Vascular Lesions

Vascular lesions are visible through the skin and their appearance can range from an overall reddish mark or red and blue spider webs under the skin.  Meanwhile, they come in many different shapes and sizes and can be found throughout the body.  Vascular lesions are caused by abnormally large or numerous blood vessels and include such things as spider veins, port wine stains, broken capillaries, haemangioma, and cherry angiomas. Intense Pulsed Light technology is well known for addressing this issue, and may assist in preventing future lesions in the same area.

 

Pigmented Lesions

Pigmented lesions are areas of the skin containing especially high concentrations of melanin and comprise such things as Keloid Pigment, birthmarks, freckles, sun spots, and age spots.  Pigmented lesions are commonly and effectively treated with laser technology because the excess pigment (melanin) absorbs the light and is broken down into smaller particles.  These particles rise to the surface of the skin and shed naturally from the exterior.

 

Couperose

Couperose is a condition that is very similar to Rosacea because the predominant feature of both conditions is a reddish complexion.  Couperose results from small dilated blood vessels under the skin and is typically found on the face; however, it can also be found on small parts of the body due to frost bite trauma (i.e. fingertips).  Intense Pulsed Light technology treats couperose by deeply penetrating below the layers of the skin, targeting the pigments inside the blood to destroy the unwanted vessel without damaging the surrounding tissue.

 

Rosacea

Rosacea is the dilation of capillaries cause by genetics, hyperstimulation or trauma to the affected area. Rosacea is characterized by fine thread-like red lines (usually on the cheeks) that come and go. Caffeine, red wine, and stress can make the visible symptoms more pronounced. Intense Pulsed Light can eliminate the appearance of rosacea, and prevent future breakouts.

 

Melasma (Chloasma)

Melasma, also known as pregnancy mask, is mal-pigmentation caused by a hormonal imbalance. Melasma should not be treated during pregnancy or nursing, but if the pigment has not faded post-pregnancy, Intense Pulsed Light treatments can assist in fading the pigmentation. Melasma often appears blue or brown, and is usually positioned on the face.

 

Stretch Marks

Stretch marks are often caused by a sudden weight loss or gain. They are usually characterized by white, purple, or pink lines in the skin that look like scars. Stretch marks can be treated with Intense Pulsed Light technology. Intense Pulsed Light causes a reaction deep within the dermis called micro-coagulation. This process stimulates the growth of new, healthy skin cells. These new cells get pushed to the surface of the skin during the cell renewal process. Results become visible approximately one week following treatment.

Acne

Acne can be caused by several environmental factors. Usually, acne is caused by a blockage inside the pore, allowing for sebum to pool-up beneath the blockage and the pore to swell; thus creating a pimple. Intense Pulsed Light technology provides a double action treatment for acne. Heat emitted from the IPL hand piece kills acne bacteria. Specific light wavelengths speed the production of healthy skin cells and stimulate collagen within the skin. This causes visible minimization of the pores, thereby purging the remainder of sebum within the pore. Use of this treatment prevents the oxidation of sebum within the skin, reducing the risk of post-treatment blackheads.

 

Oily Skin

Oily skin can result naturally or can be caused by harsh cleansers that over dry the skin. When the skin lacks lipids it naturally counteracts with increased oil production.  Oil attracts debris which, in turn, causes congestion inside the pores.   To minimize oil production, pore size should be minimized to reduce the amount of oil that can be secreted throughout the day. The technology best suited to address these concerns is the Carbon Spectra Peel Treatment. The Carbon Spectra Peel Treatment uses a carbon lotion which binds with the sebum, dust particles, and everyday pollutants.  Laser energy is then used to vaporize the carbon and stimulate collagen production which immediately minimizes the size of the pores.

 

Enlarged Pores

Enlarged pores can be a symptom of harsh environmental factors, poor hygiene, and aged or sun damaged skin.  Sun damage has the effect of thickening the skin and contributes to the appearance of enlarged pores.  Meanwhile, the loss of collagen, elastin, and water in the skin can cause skin tissue to shrink and tighten around the pores causing them, as well, to appear enlarged.  This skincare problem becomes exacerbated when oils are permitted to collect around the pores reinforcing the need for adequate hygiene.  Unfortunately, the most common cause of large pores is genetics. The Carbon Spectra Peel Treatment addresses enlarged pores by stimulating natural collagen fibers within the skin. This stimulation causes the pores to contract and purge congestion. Results are immediately visible and progress up to a week after the treatment.

 

Skin Congestion

Skin congestion is caused by the accumulation of environmental free-radicals on and within the skin. The best way to treat skin congestion is through the Carbon Spectra Peel Treatment. Dry Skin

Dry skin is characterized by white flakiness or a thick, white film that cannot easily be removed from the skin. Dry skin is often sensitive and can be symptomatic to other underlying conditions, such as rosacea, sunburn, windburn, or frostbite. A gentle, deep cleanser should be used followed by the Intense Pulsed Light Treatment.

 

Rough Skin

Rough skin is generally caused by frequent wear and tear and is characterized by thick skin that appears calloused with a greyish undertone. Intense pulsed light can soften the skin and brighten its complexion.

 

Irritated Skin

Skin that is irritated is often red and can be characterized by hives, pimples, or open lesions. Candidates with irritated skin should be treated first with EmerginC sensitive skincare products. Once the skin is well hydrated and the irritation ceases to persist, a Carbon Spectra Peel Treatment will assist to reduce the risk of future irritations.

 

Dull Complexion

Dull complexion is characterized by a greyish undertone and/or discoloration.  To counteract this and obtain a healthier, more vibrant and luminous complexion, the Carbon Spectra Peel Treatment can usually provide visible results immediately following the initial treatment.  For optimum results, the Enbrightenment Facial should be used in conjunction with the Carbon Spectra Peel Treatment.  This facial uses Vitamin C enriched products to even the skin’s tone and increase luminosity.

 

Skin Whitening

Laser Whitening helps to reduce the concentration of melanin in the skin so that a lighter complexion can be achieved over the treatment course.  A preliminary consultation with a specialist can help to set realistic expectations and establish the timeframe required to achieve the desired results.

 

Skin Elasticity, Fine Lines, and Wrinkles

The cumulative effects of sun damage and pollution in concert with the natural aging process diminish collagen production.  Its degradation, in turn, leads to wrinkles.  The Carbon Spectra Peel Treatment when partnered with the Photo Rejuvenation Facial Treatment provides the most effective results.  These treatments can increase in efficacy when combined with intermediary yet targeted facials that leverage the EmerginC line and a focused regimen or treatment course.  To prolong results, an at-home regimen should also be implemented.  The recommended at-home regimen uses the EmerginC Crease-Ease Gel and Crease-Ease emulsion.
